Same street, new drawing with ink on 200gsm cartridge to a larger scale. Water colour wash applied to compare with the egg tempera. Prefer the earth colours of the pigments in egg tempera but applying the water colour is less time consuming.
Well Street – the older north facing side
Applied a few more washes to build up the colour.
Garden Street, East facing elevation
Several layers of egg tempera washes with a final glaze of yellow ochre applied over the full length of the street. Good to see that some examples of the original windows and a door remain, see Nos 17 and 66 Garden Street.
Garden Street
First few washes of egg tempera. The colours are built up in thin layers.
Garden Street, East facing elevation
Ink on 200gsm Fabriano cartridge paper.
Well Street, South facing elevation
This side of Well Street was built twelve years after Garden Street and is more generously proportioned. A few more of the original sash windows remain on this street, see No 1, 17 and 19 for some examples.
